Custom Shop 1956 Stratocaster
Taking the coolest vintage features and adding a few modern favorites, the 1956 Strat is the rebirth of cool, bringing back a mid-century classic aesthetic with an also classic Fender tone, mixed with easy playability.
This is a guitar that came back to us on the "be back bus". It was sold here originally last year, and then traded in last week for a different Custom Shop Strat. The previous owner barely ever touched it - it's in top notch shape. The original case, certificate of authenticity, and all other items are included. The techs in our shop have given it a fresh setup so it plays perfectly. Basically, you're looking at a like new guitar, which makes this a killer deal!
The main thing that stands out is the gorgeous White Blonde transparent finish. Typically done on an ash body, we chose to do this one with an alder body. The wood grain shows through just enough, and matches perfectly with the lightly tinted quartersawn maple neck. It features a super comfortable 10/56 "V" shape that is easy to play, especially for chords and smooth lead lines. This retains the guitar's vintage vibe - it's not a shredder-style super slim and thin neck. But if that's what you were looking for, you probably wouldn't be looking at this guitar! We did add the more modern tweaks of a 9.5" radius and 6105 frets - the two most popular customizations of vintage-style guitars.
While much of what you see out there these days are Relic instruments, for this one we chose to go NOS (New Old Stock). This gives it the appearance of a guitar fresh out of the factory back in the '50's, with a perfectly clean lacquer finish - no dings, no dents, no wear whatsoever. At just 7.5 pounds, it will be a breeze to play while standing up, even all night on stage.
Handwound '56 Strat pickups (normally a significant upcharge) give you the classic 50's chime and crystal clear tone. This is the epitome of the classic Strat sound.
It comes with the period correct tweed case, Custom Shop leather strap and certificate of authenticity.
