This guitar comes from the original sketchbook in 1957 from Ted McCarty, Gibson's first president. This is a limited edition solid body not to be missed!
As the president of Gibson from their 1950–1966 golden age, Ted McCarty’s stewardship led to some of the greatest guitar innovations in 6-string history. From the Les Paul to the SG to the PAF humbucker. This guitar's blueprints from 1957 were hidden away in a filing cabinet and Gibson finally produced his dream guitar. The Gibson Theodore Standard is a vision of a instruemnt with a space-age vibe with a blend of Gibson’s contemporary “Modernistic”-series Explorer and Flying V guitars that the Theodore inspired.
The Gibson Theodore is a double-cut mahogany body with dual Florentine cutaways that give plenty of access to the entire fingerboard. The mahogany neck comes with a bound Slim Taper that provides a comfy with feel and a rosewood fingerboard trapezoid inlays. This guitar has a unique headstock with an angular “Scimitar” shape.
The Gibson Theodore Standard comes equipped with two year-appropriate 57 Classic humbuckers which bring you all the warmth, complexity, and articulation that’s made the PAF a legendary pickup. The Gibson Theodore Standard has a slightly hotter 57 Classic Plus pickup in the bridge position which gives you even more output for more tone and bite.
The Theodore is also packed with a Gibson ABR-1 Tune-o-matic bridge and Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners for tuning and stability.
This guitar is a fantastic instrument that is a true original. It is in excellent condition and comes with its original hardshell case. The techs in our shop have set it up to play perfectly and it's ready to go to you.
