PRS's Private Stock program originated in 1996 to bring Paul's unique instrument designs to life outside of traditional manufacturing methods. With meticulous crafting and personalized customization, each guitar in this program is a carefully crafted masterpiece. Every guitar is carefully conceived and built with a “one-off” mentality. All Private Stock woods are carefully housed in “The Vault” just outside of Paul’s office. Finish is the moment where an instrument takes on much of its personality. The process is proven to highlight the elegance and figure of the woods chosen. Inlay is another part of the Private Stock process with nearly infinite options and combinations, as a way to personalize the instrument. From those materials to the top-shelf pickups and hardware, a Private Stock guitar represents the ultimate in craftsmanship and quality, as well as collectibility.
This PRS Private Stock Custom 24 (PS11744) exemplifies this exceptionally well. Truetone Music designed this guitar with PRS knowing that it would be mind-blowing. As expected, it is.
The Curly Maple top is something that may stop you in your tracks - it did with us. We chose the finish to be Triple Faded Indigo. It's a color rarely seen, and it's stunning. You may notice something very unique about this guitar - it's a PRS without inlays on the fretboard. We chose to go this route specifically to create something unique, and perhaps offer something special to the player that prefers not to have bird inlays. Other nice touches we added were a truss rod cover to match the headstock and body, and back plates to perfectly match the front of the body.
Another unique feature is that the pickups are directly mounted on the body - there are no pickup rings. It's something you don't see on a lot of PRS guitars, and we really dig the look. We chose the PRS 85/15 pickups, which bring vintage and modern pickup design together to deliver exceptional clarity and extended high and low end. With balanced full-spectrum tone, PRS 85/15’s are perfect for modern players driving a pedalboard, and have enough character to deliver when plugging straight into an amp.
The neck has a Pattern Regular profile, making the guitar very comfortable to play. The 24-fret fretboard has a 10" radius, encouraging easy bending. You'll stay in tune with Tweaked Phase III Locking tuners and a PRS Patented Tremolo, Gen III bridge. Of course the guitar is setup to play perfectly.
Other features include Clear Lampshade knobs, and Abalone side dots on the neck. The guitar comes with a beautiful Black Paisley case, and includes a certificate of authenticity.
