Pre Owned Gibson Custom Shop 1960 Les Paul Standard Murphy Aged Iced Tea Burst With OHSC
Any Gibson Les Paul is a special thing, but a Custom Shop one is even more special. And one aged by Tom Murphy? That's the gold standard right there - and it's what we have right here.
We just took in this amazing Custom Shop 1960 Les Paul Standard, aged by Tom Murphy, in the classic color of Iced Tea Burst. Built in 2011, it's from a great era of the Gibson Custom Shop, and is one of the nicer Les Paul's that we've had in here recently (and that's a lot). It's in excellent condition, comes with the original case, Certificate of Authenticity, hang tags and other paperwork. It's the complete package for sure.
A 1960 Les Paul Standard is for those that like a slim neck and fat vintage tones. 1960 was the last year for the original Les Paul™ Standard, nearly identical to a 1959 model except for a few specs. Most notably, it features a fast-playing slim neck profile, beloved by the many famous musicians who played '60 Bursts including Eric Clapton, Joe Walsh, and Paul McCartney. It also has "reflector" Volume & Tone knobs and wider "double-ring" tuner tips. This Custom Shop 1960 Les Paul Standard is meant to be like a clone of the originals. It features hide-glue construction, period correct parts and hardware, and all of the right specs No detail is spared.
The maple top on this one has a very unique and attractive figuring - it's unlike any other we've had in here. This isn't meant to be a super flame top - it's entirely something different. Also, we noticed this one isn't all that heavy (just 8.5 lbs). This is a Tom Murphy aged guitar - no one does it better, and it's as authentic as it gets. He absolutely nailed this one.
Authentic vintage tone comes from Custombucker Alnico III pickups in both the bridge and neck positions. These pickups deliver all the warm, fat tone that Les Pauls are known for. These pickups are complimented by the historically accurate electronics such as the CTS 500K Audio Taper Potentiometers and Paper-in-Oil Capacitors. For the true sound of a vintage Les Paul, without it being an actual vintage one, look no further.
