Pre Owned Tobias Standard Bass With Case
We just took in a hard to find bass - a rare, made in Japan, Tobias Standard. Apparently only 400 were made, in the famous Nagoya factory, and then finalized and setup by Michael Tobias and his team in California. This is from the more desirable "pre-Gibson" era of Tobias, and has become highly sought after by boutique bass aficionados since then.
This one in particular plays amazingly - the neck is slim and super comfortable, and it's a good weight (just 7.8 lbs). When plugged in, it really shines. The tone is thick and punchy, with enough high-end sizzle to cut through the mix. It's suitable for a variety of style, whether it be rock, funk, fusion or anything in between. The Bartoloni preamp and pickups sound stellar and you can really dial in your sound with the stacked bass/treble and blend controls (the front control is a volume). Everything on the bass is original, other than the bridge - that seems to have been replaced years ago.
The condition of this one is very good - it has a fair amount of dings & dent, but nothing that impacts the instrument at all. It just shows that this thing was put to good use, as it should have been! The fretboard is in great condition. Be sure to check out all of the photos. The bass has been vetted and setup to play perfectly by the techs in our repair shop. It comes with the original hardshell case as well.
