Pre Owned Hussey VariAxe 36 MR Custom Tube Guitar Amp Head

Based on combining what two Carmen Ghia amps might sound like, amp (and pedal builder), Phil Hussey designed this unique, one-of-a-kind tube head for Love lead guitarist Mike Randle back in 2010.  Fifteen years later, Randle felt ready to part with an amp head that he’s had such a “love” affair with and had used on all his California gigs.  It is now available for the first time on the market.

This amp contains a unique VariAxe feature that allows you to power the head from 1 watt to 36 watts and all points in between and on the fly.  The head has just one volume knob and one tone knob.  This keeps things simple and lets you get on with your tone rather than spending precious time EQing the life right out of your sound.  The Hussey 36 MR also uses a solid state rectifier, as opposed to a tube one. Solid-state rectifiers, compared to tube rectifiers, offer advantages like greater reliability, faster response and a longer lifespan.

Not only is this amp a total rock machine when cranked at the full 36 watts, but  can easily be your bedroom-level & overdrive-dream when powering  at 1 watt and diming the volume knob.  This amp doesn’t go to “11” but it may as well!  It sounds really great with a 1x12 cab but sounds amazingly better with a 2 x 12 cab - that's what Mike Randle paired it with.  You can take it even further and run it with a 4 x 12 but make sure your band is playing outside on stage and  not inside your apartment (unless you want to get evicted!).
