Pre-Owned 2019 Gibson Limited Edition Alvin Lee '69 Festival ES-335 Cherry With OHSC

Over the years, Gibson has made some highly collectible guitars - here's one that recreates an iconic piece of rock & roll history.
Alvin Lee was the lead guitarist and vocalist of the band 10 Years After, whose legendary performance at the the 1969 Woodstock catapulted them to superstardom. Lee's unique playing style was revered, and was affectionally known as "The fastest guitarist in the west". Onstage during their performance, he rocked an ES-335 known as "Big Red".
In honor of the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock, Gibson released a super limited run of this Alvin Lee ES-335 ‘69 Festival model, built to the exact specifications of the guitar Lee used during his jaw-dropping performance. It includes all the stickers, aging, modifications and mojo of the original. Only 50 of these limited edition models were offerered for sale worldwide.
We were thrilled to get this one in, as it's the only one we've seen. The guitar is based on a 1959 dot-neck ES-335, but it was modified with a later 1960s block-inlay neck, which the replica reproduces. The "Big Red" modifications included a middle pickup added between the two humbuckers, a TP-6 fine-tuning tailpiece, and added Grover tuners. The guitar uses two uncovered Alnico III Custombuckers and a Seymour Duncan SSL-1 in the middle position
The 69 Festival model replicates the "Aged Sixties Cherry" finish, which includes the iconic peace, marijuana, and various stickers that were famously lacquered over after a headstock repair. It has all of the vibe of the original.
The guitar is a true collectible piece. It's all original, in excellent condition, and has the original case as well as the certificate of authenticity. It's been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop. For serious players and collectors, this is quite the find.
