Pre Owned Gibson Custom Shop 50th Anniversary '60's Les Paul Standard Cherry Sunburst R-0 Pilot Run Version 3 With OHSC

We've had a ton of Les Paul's here over the years, all of which we've loved, but sometimes one comes that really grabs our attention. This is one of them. It arrived with a load of other guitars that a local collector brought it - each was unique, and as always, one took a hold of our hearts more than the others.
This is the Gibson Custom Shop 50th Anniversary '60's Les Paul "Pilot Run Version 3". It was part of an exclusive run of guitars in 2010. The third version of the Custom Shop 50th Anniversary 1960 Les Paul Standard has the slim-taper neck for which late-'60 Les Paul guitars have become famous, along with the double-band tuners and gold top-hat control knobs with the "new" silver inserts that were fitted to these electric guitars. Version 3 features a '60s Cherry Burst finish. Furthermore, Version 3 accurately represents the changes in the finishing process at Gibson in the latter part of 1960, in its more vibrant, colorfast Cherry Sunburst, a finish that stood the test of time somewhat better than many of the sunbursts that preceded it. Be sure to make note of the special stamp on the back of the headstock.
The 50th Anniversary 1960 Les Paul pack all the tonal nuances and unparalleled playability that really helped to make these Gibson electric guitars distinguished in the hands of some of the most influential artists of all time. The time-tested tonewood combination of mahogany and maple, the classic duo of Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, and a pair of Gibson's prized PAF-style BurstBucker humbucking pickups all work toward a tonal splendor that few guitars can equal. Add to these the Custom Shop 50th Anniversary 1960 Les Paul Standards' long-tenon neck joint, traditionally back-angled headstock, and thin, breathable nitrocellulose finish, and you've got a guitar that sings and resonates like no other. A total of only 500 Gibson Custom Shop 50th Anniversary 1960 Les Paul Standards were produced in a blend of all three versions.
The guitar is surprisingly well-balanced and not too heavy - it weighs in at 8.8 lbs, but is still very resonant. Plugged in, it sounds amazing. "Majestic" is the word that comes to mind. The Burstbucker pickups provide the most classic of Les Paul tones, with the ability to scream when needed but also pull back nicely for super clean, atmospheric playing.
