Pre Owned Fender Custom Shop 60th Anniversary Presidential Select Stratocaster Wine Red with OHSC
In 2006, as part of the 60th Anniversary of Fender, one of the most legendary limited edition models in the company's history was released. The 60th Anniversary Presidential Select Stratocaster is, as far as we know, the only guitar that Fender has done that incorporated wine into the finish. Only 100 were made, making this a rare find.
This instrument is from the personal collection of the late Brad Pie who played guitar in the 1990’s with the great Johnny Otis. Along with Johnny’s sons - Shuggie Otis (Guitar) and Nicky Otis (Drums) - Brad contributed guitar to the 1992 Grammy-Nominated “Spirit of the Black Territory Bands” by the Johnny Otis & His Orchestra group.
The Presidential Select Stratocaster guitar was the only instrument offered from the Fender Custom Shop that included the 60th Anniversary logo. The guitar features a hand-selected flame maple top, gold hardware throughout, custom designed pickups, and the 60th anniversary logo inlaid in pearl at the 12th fret of the instrument’s neck. Speaking of the neck, it's a beautiful AA Flame Maple, a fitting match for this guitar.
The top of the guitar has been hand-stained using the exclusive wine stain mixture "Hill Harvest Red". This unique concept was dreamt up at the Custom Shop, and the result is stunning.
This guitar came with six bottles of hand-selected wine, blended for the Fender Custom Shop by the Hill Family in Yountville, California. The bottles were packaged in a case manufactured in Fender Ensenada using a variety of tonewoods including spruce and Paloscrito. A Custom Shop Limited Edition logo was inlaid on the top of the case using abalone, rosewood, maple, and ebony. While that wine is long gone, it is an interesting fact about this guitar.
Fender has made a lot of collectible guitars, but the 60th Anniversary Presidential Select Stratocaster is one of the most unique. It was featured on the cover of the 2009 Fender Custom Shop calendar and has become well known to collectors and Fender fanatics.
The guitar is in excellent condition - the previous owner kept it in his private collection, and now it's here at Truetone Music. It's been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop. The original Custom Shop case and Certificate of Authenticity are included, as well as a nice leather strap and cable. It's ready to be added to the next collection of fine instruments.
