Pre Owned Fender Custom Shop 1955 Precision Bass NOS Sunburst With OHSC

Used And Vintage

Built in the Fender Custom Shop in Corona in 2003, this amazing 1955 Precision Bass definitely stands out - usually what you see is the more modern late 50's and 60's models, but this is the more rarely seen old school '55 P bass style.

The specs and feel are pure vintage.  The neck is thick, just like you'd expect it to be on a mid-50's P Bass like this.  For those that know, this is THE feel - a tree trunk of a neck that is still comfortable, providing all of the stability and power that the original P basses had.  If you're looking for a skinny modern neck, this isn't the one.  But if you're into big old school necks, you've found it here.  The body is an interesting transition from the early 50's style (slab) to the later 50's contour (contoured), but retains the original pickguard design.  It also has period-correct hardware.

In 1955, the Fender Precision bass had the original single coil pickup (before switching to the more modern split coil pickup).  In this case, it can't be seen because of the covers, but it's there!  This is where you get that old school P bass warmth and thump - also known as "the sound heard around the world".

The bass is in great condition - there are a few nicks and dings, as this bass was put to use as intended, and that happens with a thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish.  Overall it was well taken care of and looks great.  Custom Shop basses can come in a huge variety of colors but when someone wants the classic reference, they go back to how it was done in the mid-50's, with 2-Tone Sunburst.

The bass came to us with flatwound strings so when we were getting it ready, we decided to roll with it.  We can keep those on there, but if you prefer roundwound strings, we can put some on for you (at no charge).  The techs in our shop have set it up to play perfectly, so it's ready to go.  The original tweed case is included, as well as Certificate of Authenticity.

For those that love old school P basses, with Custom Shop quality, and a unique custom finish, it would be hard to beat this one!
