Pre Owned ESP LTD Eclipse Custom '87 Black With Case
We just scored this primo condition ESP LTD Eclipse Custom '87 - complete with an added hardshell case, it's a great package deal. For those that don't know how great these instruments are, the playability, quality and all around value is hard to beat. But first, what is it?
While ESP first got started in 1975 as a small repair shop in Tokyo, it was really toward the mid ‘80s when their guitars and basses grabbed the attention of players around the world. The LTD ’87 Series instruments are faithful recreations of this set of instruments from ESP’s 1987 catalog. Unlike the current single-cutaway Eclipse shape, the original ESP Eclipse was based on the TE archtop shape, which is the basis of the LTD Eclipse ’87. That's what we have here.
This guitar offers neck-thru-body construction with a mahogany body and three-piece maple neck topped with an ebony fretboard. The Thin U neck shape is super comfortable to play, both for riffing down low and shredding up high. Speaking of up high, you'll have a full 2 octaves, as this is a 24 fretter. The ’87 Series Eclipse is loaded with a set of Seymour Duncan ’59 (neck) and JB (bridge) pickup set (with original style bobbins and a push-pull control to split the coils). And lastly, a Floyd Rose-1000 locking tremolo is there for you dive bomb delights.
We just took this one, and it appears that the previous own barely ever touched the guitar - it's almost like new, with the plastic still on the backplates. The nice hardshell case is included (normally, these don't come with a case when new). The guitar has been vetted and setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop. We don't think it will last long.
