The D'Angelico EXL-1 is an homage to master-builder John D’Angelico’s original archtop design. Its floating pickup design produces vibrant resonance, easily handling both rich, smoky comp chords and intricate lead lines. The EXL-1 exudes elegance, with a laminated spruce top, maple back, and signature stairstep tailpiece, pickguard and tuners. Capturing the spirit of its mid-century counterpart, it is unmatched in quality, playability and style, all offered at an attractive price. The EXL-1 humbly accepts the title given to it by so many jazz players: their “dream guitar.”
John D’Angelico’s original archtop design is legend, and the EXL-1 is its modern-day counterpart. True to the original in every detail, the EXL-1 features a USA-made Seymour Duncan Johnny Smith Floating Mini-Humbucker to maximize the acoustic tone of its commanding 17-inch-wide, 3-inch-deep body. Art Deco-inspired details frame the EXL-1—with a scroll-style neck bevel, mother-of-pearl inlays on an ebony bridge, and split-block inlays on a pau ferro fingerboard.
This one is a in excellent condition, and setup by to play perfectly by the techs in our shop. The original hardshell case is included. This is serious score for any lefty that is in the market for a great playing jazz guitar!
