Truetone Music has been selected to take in a special collection of instruments from a very special long-time customer and friend of ours. A collector of only unique, rare, vintage and high-end guitars & amps, he amassed a serious collection of these years. For the first time, these pieces are available on the market for the first time.

This creates an excellent opportunity - a chance to get an incredible Gretsch Custom Masterbuilt G6130CS Roundup built by Stephen Stern. It's like none other out there. This guitar was just built earlier this year (2022). It went to his home, was only played a couple of times, and was kept in its case the whole time. So, this guitar is like new, in perfect condition, and comes with the original case, Certificate of Authenticity, hang tags, etc. It's been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our repair shop.

The Gretsch Custom Shop is where the time-honored legacy reaches its creative apex. No instruments epitomize the extraordinary expertise and attention to detail of Gretsch’s most trusted hands like Custom Shop instruments. From modern versions of legendary Gretsch instruments to artist tribute models and specially requested one-off guitars, the Gretsch Custom Shop takes “That Great Gretsch Sound” to an entirely new plane, but also preserves and perfects it.

This G6130CS '55 Roundup is a great demonstration of this. It's a reimagining of a classic model, with hand-selected wood that we picked out with Masterbuilder Stephen Stern. The top is what will grab your attention right off the bat - it's a Maple top with a Knotty Pine veneer, perfect for a Roundup like this, with a ton of figuring. The wood grain chosen really is stunning. Stern chose to do this one as a Closet Classic, with very little aging or wear - just enough to add to the vintage vibe, but that's it. We love how it came out, especially with the hardware. Be sure to check out the photos of everything, especially the intricate details on the leather-bound sides and the belt-buckle style tailpiece and the curly maple headcap.

The neck is Mahogany, matching the back & sides of the body, and topped with a gorgeous Brazilian Rosewood fretboard. As you probably know, it's hard to get Brazilian Rosewood like this, and it cannot be shipped out of the country. It's highly desirable and makes this guitar just a bit more special. The stock "C" neck shape is familiar and comfortable. The classic vintage Gretsch tone comes courtesy of the Duncan Dynasonic pickups, recreating the sound of 1955 and keeping it period correct for a Roundup like this.
