Pre Owned 2022 Fender Custom Shop ‘62 Stratocaster Relic Faded Surf Green
We love all Fender Custom Shop instruments here, and especially vintage styled Strats. Each is a special thing, and we get a lot of them here. However, sometimes one stands out as a bit more unique - that's the case here with this hardtail '62 Strat with handwound pickups and a great Relic finish.
Just built in 2022, the Custom Shop nailed the look, feel and sound with this one. Aesthetically, it's a truly classic look in Surf Green. The Relic treatment was done perfectly, as in it's tastefully applied, with the wear in all of the right places. This Strat is also super lightweight, coming in at 6.5 lbs. That's the first thing we noticed when taking it out of the case. Even before plugging in, we noticed how acoustically loud and resonant it is. Of course, the neck plays like butter, as no one does it better than the Fender Custom Shop. It features a comfortable 60's Oval "C" neck shape - period correct, with a real vintage feel. This slim profile is the most popular choice for Custom Shop guitars, and there's a good reason for that! The 9.5” fingerboard radius combined with the 6105 (Narrow Tall) frets add a modern touch and help to make this a player’s dream.

The guitar features Custom Shop hand-wound ’60/’63 Strat pickups, which are wound to the exact specs from those formidable years that burned the Stratocaster into the history of music forever. You'll get the classic chime combined with the warmness of a 60's era Strat. The middle pickup is RWRP (Reverse Wound Reverse Polarity) to reduce noise when in position 2 & 4. Thankfully, Fender equipped this guitar with a modern 5-way selector switch for another moden touch. Also, this guitar is equipped with the Fat 50's 1/2 Blend mod. That gives you the ability to blend the neck pickup with the bridge and middle, but the blend happens on positions 1 and 2, thus the half blender. It's another little tweak that we've grown to be big fans of, as it adds versatility to your menu of tonal options, while staying simple.
For the classic look and feel with all of the soul and vibe of an early 60's Strat, but with the unique twist of being a hardtail, it's hard to beat this. The guitar is in excellent condition - remember, it was built just last year, and everything on the guitar is original. It seems that the previous owner bought it, barely played it, and then traded it to us. The original tweed case and Certificate of Authenticity are included. The techs in our shop have set it up to play perfectly - this one is ready to go, and a great deal. We don't think it will last long here!
