Up for sale is a truly special instrument made by the highly respected luthier Maurice Dupont.  This Dupont MD50R is a prime example of his excellent craftmenship and attention to detail.

With a long-standing reputation as one of the top luthiers in France, Maurice Dupont is an expert in producing the Selmer Maccaferri guitar. Originally known for his classical guitar craftsmanship, Maurice was honored as the "Best French Craftsman" in 1989. Under the mentorship of renowned Gypsy guitar maker Jacques Favino, Maurice began creating his own Selmer style guitars in 1986, which have since become the preferred choice of many professional Gypsy guitarists. Numerous Gypsy music icons, including Raphael Fays, Biréli Lagrène, Tchavolo Schmitt, and Romane, have recorded with Dupont guitars.

The MD50 is a Selmer copy designed by Maurice to match the specifications of the iconic Selmer guitars produced from 1932-1951. This model is expertly crafted to the specifications of French virtuoso Rocky Gresset, with a heat bent pliage top and ebony binding typically found on pricier models.  Its unique features include a distinctive body shape, oval soundhole, bridge and tailpiece, flatter neck, and headstock.  Additionally, the narrower 1 11/16" nut makes this guitar easy to play, while still producing a clear and articulate tone with minimal overtones and a defined low end. Expertly crafted by Maurice, this instrument offers exceptional tone and playability with a low action.

Crafted with Indian rosewood back and sides, a French spruce top, and a walnut neck capped with an ebony fretboard, this guitar provides a distinct clear and dry tone.
