Pre-Owned 1996 Taylor Limited Edition 420 PF Acoustic Guitar With OHSC

Used And Vintage Amps

If you want a guitar that helped build Taylor's reputation as a world-class guitar builder than you have to check out this Taylor 420 from 1996! That's the year that the first mammal (Dolly the sheep) was successfully cloned, that movie Independence Day came out, and The Wallflowers hit it big with the album Bringing Down the Horse.  It's also when Taylor was growing significantly with the renewed popularity of acoustic guitar, perfecting their process and getting creative with woods.  This particular guitar is a great example of that era, and represents their stellar craftmanship.

The Taylor 420 is a dreadnought-style acoustic guitar from the Taylor 400 series, and was produced from 1990 to 1997.
You get a solid Sitka spruce top that's paired with a unique back and sides choice - it's pau ferro.  You normally don't see acoustics like his.  The result is vibrant, with full rich tones, a great balance and fantastic bass response.  A great feature of Taylor guitars, from the begining, has been their extra comfortable necks and this is a perfect example. You will love the feel of this set mahogany neck that has a profile somewhat similar to an electric and it comes with a rosewood fingerboard.

Distinctly you get a pinless bridge with this older Taylor and compensated saddle for great intonation and sustain. There is a set of big button Grover tuners for easy tuning. This guitar is perfect for any style of playing whether pick or fingerstyle. With a tortoise-style pickguard you get a real classic look and protection.
This Taylor 420 is in good shape, with some player wear of course but nothing too major.  The satin finish is pretty clean especially on the back.  We did find the the headstock has evidence of a split, with a line seen on the back of it, but it was repaired very well long ago, and is smooth.  No issues there.  The guitar comes its original hardshell case, which has much wear (see photos).  It's been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop, and it's ready to go!
