Pre Owned 1991 Tom Anderson Drop Top HSS Flametop Translucent Blue With Case

Used And Vintage Electric Guitars

This is the model that really kicked it off for Tom Anderson.  Before we get into this specific one, here's the history, straight from the source:

Before the introduction of the magnificent Drop Top in 1990, the number of "S" style guitars that had a maple top that was “dropped” to create a comfortable forearm contour were exactly zero.  As a result of this design, we've chosen a body top thickness of 3/16 of an inch, which actually enhances and enriches the sonic character of the instrument. The result is a guitar that not only plays effortlessly, is extremely comfortable, and sounds amazing but is so darn good looking that if you don't dress well it just may upstage you.

Here we have a great example from 1991.  Featuring a stunning flame maple top on a swamp ash body, this guitar stands out.  The transparent Blue finish really makes the grain pop.  The body is framed nicely with flame maple binding, and accented by the white pearl pickguard, topped off with a matching headstock done in a unique way (check out the photos).  Looks-wise, this guitar is on a whole new level.

Of course it's not just about looks - this guitar feels and sounds amazing.  The sturdy maple neck is straight as an arrow and super comfortable to grip, topped with a rosewood fretboard with a very nice grain.  The back of the neck has a satin finish on Anderson's Even Taper profile, making it a pleasure to play.

The guitar has a versatile set of pickups handmade at Tom Anderson's facility - classic single coils for the neck and middle positions, and a powerful humbucker for the bridge position.  The guitar is equipped with Andersons Switcharoo system, allowing for series or parallel wiring to be assigned to each pickup. By customizing the switches, it is possible to combine the middle single coil pickup with a split neck humbucker and activate the blower switch for a full lead tone with the bridge humbucker. This system offers exceptional versatility.

This Tom Anderson Drop Top is in excellent condition, especially considering that it's over 30 years old.  The previous owner took great care of it.  It's been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop.  The hardshell case is included.

We don't get many Tom Anderson guitars in here, and we're always impressed - but this might take the cake as the coolest one we've had.  Sadly (for us), it's likely to go quick!
