Pre Owned Sophie B. Hawkins 1990s Gretsch G6129T Gold Sparkle Jet With OHSC
Damn, I wish I owned that guitar! Well, you no longer have to wish. If this iconic
Gretsch Gold Sparkle Jet looks familiar, it may be because you saw it played by Sophie
B. Hawkins in her video for her 1999 hit single, “The One You Have Not Seen.” She
also plays it at the opening of the 1998 award-winning documentary about her, The
Cream Will Rise. Both were directed by Hawkins’s former partner, screenwriter-director
Gigi Gaston.
Sophie B. Hawkins, the 1993 Best New Artist Grammy-nominated musician from New
York, had a huge hit (#5 on the 1992 Billboard Hot 100 chart) with “Damn I Wish I Was
Your Lover” and toured the world not long after, playing a cool Gretsch G6129T Gold Sparkle Jet. In fact, this Gretsch was bought by Sophie and gifted to Gigi when they were together. But, as Gigi told us, “I’ve owned this guitar for over 25 years ... and yes, it is sentimental ... but it’s time to let go.” Lucky for us, Gigi wanted to work with Truetone Music to help find a solid, special home for this piece of pop culture history.

This Gretsch Jet has been kept original (including the hardshell case) with the exception of the strap buttons (one gold, one nickel). Set up by our expert guitar techs, this Jet plays like butter and even comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Gigi. Damn, no more wishing!
This is a super resonant semi-hollowbody guitar that has solid-body sensibilities due a chambered mahogany body with a maple top. With two Filtertron humbuckers you get full powerful pickups that pair nicely with the body for a sound that has fullness and chime. Easily find your sounds with a pickup selector, master volume, and individual pickup volume and tone controls. Keep in tune with deluxe tuners, bridge, and stylish trapeze tailpiece.
The Jet is one of the icons in the all-time Gretsch lineup and this one is a great one. Not only that, this exact guitar has some serious pedigree. This beautiful instrument is in great condition and comes with its original hardshell case. It's a fully playable collector's item, and truly something special.
