Vintage '87 Fender American Vintage '57 Stratocaster Black Electric Guitar With OHSC

Used And Vintage

Here we have a rather rare find, a great American Vintage 1957 Stratocaster, straight out of 1987.   Not a lot of these were made, and these have been rather desirable over the years, for both players and collectors.  When we first took this one in, we thought to to be a 1984, as that's what the neck is stamped as, but the pots date to 1987, and upon further review, the call has been reversed to 1987.

An alder body with one piece maple neck, finished in black - this is the classic Strat right here.   The neck shape is the 57 Soft V, which will feel familiar to many players.  Not too thick, but with enough grip for a vintage feel, it's one of our profiles.  It's super comfortable to play.  It seems that the previous owner barely played it, as there is plenty of life in the frets.

The period correct pickups bring legendary Strat chime and clarity, with a nice sparkle at the bridge and a notably smooth treble response, all with a fullness that rounds out the guitar nicely.

Crafted in California shortly after Fender's relocation to Corona, these builds are sought after for their exceptional sonic character and scarcity.  This black beauty, with the original hard shell case, represents a tangible piece of the company's storied past.  It's the beginning of a new era, which was the stepping stone to where we are today.
We included photos of the butt of the neck, as well as the electronics.  We believe that this neck was made in 1984 in Fullerton, moved to Corona the following year, and then was paired with the body and pickguard assembly in 1987.  Obviously, that can't be said for sure, but it would explain the differing dates.
This American Vintage '57 Strat is in great shape, especially considering that it's been on earth for nearly 40 years.  There's normal player wear but nothing major - most of it is on the back.  The neck is clean.  While there is a wear from it being on a hanger (see photo), it's in good shape. The guitar has been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop and is ready for it's next home.
