Pre Owned 1980 Gibson Firebrand The Paul Natural With Gig Bag
This 1980 Gibson "The Paul" Firebrand is a legendary piece of Gibson history. Known for its stripped-down, high-performance "working man's" vibe, it's a great find.
This "The Paul" model features a solid mahogany body with a unique natural oil finish that lets the wood grain breathe and resonate far more than a heavy nitro or poly coat. It’s easily identifiable by the iconic Gibson logo being branded directly into the mahogany headstock, giving it a rugged, no-nonsense look that perfectly matches its raw tonal character. The solid mahogany neck features a comfortable, rounded profile and a rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets, offering that classic Gibson feel in a slightly more lightweight and aggressive package than a standard Les Paul.
The electronics are built for pure rock and roll power, typically featuring a pair of Gibson humbuckers (original) that are famous for their hot, mid-forward bite. These pickups are wired into the traditional dual volume and dual tone control layout with a 3-way toggle, allowing you to dial in everything from a thick, creamy neck sustain to a snarling bridge crunch that cuts through any mix. Because of the thin finish and solid mahogany construction, these Firebrand models are known for having a faster "snap" and a more percussive attack than their heavier, carved-top cousins.
The hardware is vintage-spec and built to last, featuring a Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece for rock-solid intonation and maximum sustain. It comes equipped with Gibson-branded Schaller tuners that provide excellent tuning stability, even under heavy stage use.
Everything is original, except for the bridge (original included in case, strap buttons, switch tip and toggle switch washper plate (replaced with one that adds a touch of humor - check out the photos). The original case is long gone; instead this guitar with a gig bag.
This Firebrand The Paul is a great find. The guitar is in good condition, especially considering that's been around since 1980. The techs in our shop have set it up to play perfectly and it's ready to go.
