Gibson Custom Shop Murphy Lab 1961 ES-335 Sixties Cherry Ultra Light Aged with Case
Semi-Hollow Soul
The Historic Reissue ES-335 is back and better than ever thanks to a year of studying, scanning, and listening to original examples. The expert craftspeople at the Gibson Custom Shop have rendered every contour, profile, inlay and color of the priceless vintage ES™ models in magnificent detail. The result is a playing and ownership experience that will keep you coming back for more.
The 1961 Reissue models utilize rounded cutaways, SlimTaper™ neck profiles scanned from originals, dot inlays and vintage-replica parts. Features PAF-inspired Custombucker Alnico pickups, to get the most classic of tones. And of course, the color is spot on.
It also features Ultra Light Aging by the skilled artisans of the Murphy Lab. The Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged finish treatment, paired with lightly aged hardware, simulates decades of light play wear, giving it the unique character, vibe, and feel of an original example from the Gibson Golden Era.
Gibson put as much into the electronics as they did to its aesthetics. You get CTS 500K audio taper potentiometers and paper-in-oil capacitors, so the internal signal path gives you dead-on 1961 ES-335 tone. This guitar sports a pair of unpotted Custombucker humbuckers with Alnico III magnets, These are some of the most historically accurate PAF replications ever. We were blown away when we plugged this guitar in.
Any Custom Shop build is amazing, but this Murphy Lab 1961 ES-335 could be the best we've had yet. This is as close to the original look, sound, and feel of a 1961 ES-335 as one can get, and worth every penny.
