A True One of a Kind
In 2012, Fender debuted the Select Series, a new line of instruments that featured premium woods, modern playability and all-around aesthetic that Fender had never done before. In the same year, Fender also debuted the American Design Experience, a one of a kind "build your own" room in the Visitors Center adjacent to the factory in Corona. There, customers could choose from prototype bodies, a variety of necks, and various pickups and parts, to design a unique guitar. From that, this beautiful example of the experience was born.
in 2013, a customer designed this guitar but had to back out - it then sat in a storage closet for the past 7 years, before being pulled out. Now, it's available for the first time, having never been played. It's in mind condition, with the original case, paperwork and accessories. Here's a new opportunity to own a one of kind Telecaster.
The base model is the Fender Select Series Carved Maple Top Telecaster, an elegantly crafted take on the legendary guitar model. This one has a prototype body with a stunning Amber Sunburst gloss-lacquer finish on a lightweight empress body with a carved flame maple top. Its modern "C" shaped flame maple neck has a Bi-Flex™ truss rod system for rock-solid stability, a satin lacquer finish. The smooth-playing compound radius flame maple fretboard (9.5"-14") has 22 medium jumbo frets and stylish black pearloid position inlays. The clear, hum-free comes from Fender N3 Noiseless pickups. It has three-way switching and a no-load tone control that delivers the natural uncolored sound of the bridge pickup when dimed.
The American Design Experience was a thing in Corona where customers could pick & choose different bodies & necks (as well as pickups, parts, etc.) to make their own unique instruments. In this case, the customer chose the body & neck from the Select Series, but chose not to have the emblem put on the headstock, and a regular Fender neckplate was used. It is called it a Select because of the carved top Tele body and the birdseye neck, which were used in the initial Select Series lineup.
