Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition 1964 Stratocaster Relic Aged Olympic White
The early to mid 1960's was an iconic time for Fender, as well as a ground-breaking period in music history. By 1964, the world had changed and a new era was dawning. It was that year that this Stratocaster harkens back to.
The Fender Custom Shop has been crafting the finest instruments for 30 years now, and become known for their "Time Machine" series. This Limited Edition 1964 Strat Relic is one of the finest examples of the work coming out of Corona, California. We've done this one a few times, and hands down, it's one of our favorite Custom Shop builds. We just can't quit it.
With the well-worn look of the Relic finish, this guitar has the appearance of one that was played night after night. We also had the neck given a Heavy Relic treatment, to maximize the "broken in" feel that players love. We do this on a lot of guitars and have found that not only do we love it, but so does nearly everyone that picks one up. The neck is really the standout feature on this instrument, as it's AAA Flame Maple (both normally a significant upcharge, but not on this one). Be sure to check out the photos - the grain is simply stunning.
It has a 60's Oval "C" neck shape, 9.5” radius and 6105 frets, making it easy to play and bend up high without fretting out. It also sports a super dark rosewood fretboard, which contrasts nicely with the body. Speaking of the body, we went with lightweight alder, which makes it comfortable to play all night. The classic Aged Olympic White nitro lacquer finish and vintage hardware gives you the vintage vibe with modern playability. A best of both worlds situation.
Other features include hand-wound Fat 60's pickups. These are wound to give an extra dose of power with the classic 60's Strat sound of glistening highs and warm, punchy lows. Vintage stagger, Alnico 2 magnets and formvar wire recreate the vintage tone that players have loved for years.
The guitar includes a deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.
