Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition 1959 Stratocaster NOS Sherwood Green Metallic
Green & Gold Supreme
This Custom Shop 1959 Stratocaster is a fine testament to what Fender can do today, featuring a two-piece select alder body with deep contours, a stunningly beautiful AAA Birdseye Maple neck, and gold hardware. The neck shape is a Large C - so it's the carve of a 60's neck with added grip of a 50's neck. The more modern tweak is a 9.5" radius and Narrow Tall (6105) frets for easy playing and bending - this is one of the most common and popular modifications to vintage-styled guitars out of the Custom Shop.
For the pickups, when we want classic golden era tone with a little more punch, we're going with the ever-popular Custom Shop Fat 50's Strat set. This particular guitar has Hand-Wound pickups, typically a significant upcharge. The Fat 50's set gives you calibrated pickups constructed with hand-beveled, staggered Alnico V magnets and Formvar magnet wire. They deliver enhanced bass response without the harsh midrange. The middle pickup is reverse wound/reverse polarity for hum canceling in positions 2 and 4. The balanced output and enhanced dynamics are what make this Fender's most requested pickup set. We also dig the Vintage Modified # 2 wiring setup. This features a master volume, tone # 1 (neck & middle pickups), and tone # 2 (bridge) with treble bleed (for keeping mids and rolling off highs without adding bass). This guitar sounds downright amazing.
We originally scored this guitar at an exclusive Fender Custom Shop Dealer event in Scottsdale - of over 100 instruments available, this was one of the guitars we wanted the most, so we were thrilled to get it. Once it sold, we knew we had to reorder it, so here it is! That makes it only the second built like this.
