Fender Custom Shop 1962 Stratocaster Heavy Relic Sherwood Green Metallic Over Charcoal Frost Metallic

Fender Custom Shop 1962 Stratocaster Heavy Relic Sherwood Green Metallic Over Charcoal Frost Metallic

Ever since the Stratocaster debuted in 1954, it has evolved, even in the earliest days.  The Strat has continued to change over the years, but for many, stepping back to how it was done in the 60's is the way to go.  The Fender Custom Shop excels at recreating the look, feel and sound of these guitars, often with special tweaks.  That's where we decided to go with this one.

As part of a close partnership with the Fender Custom Shop, Truetone Music cooked up a run of guitars, featuring combinations of our favorite colors.  This is one of them - it's Sherwood Green Metallic over Charcoal Frost Metallic.  It's a Heavy Relic, to bring out the underneath color.  The result is actually cooler than we thought it would be!

This Custom Shop '62 Strat is a testament to the Custom Shop's ability to pull off vintage recreations with modern playability.  It features a period correct 60's Style Oval "C" neck shape, vintage-voiced pickups, and a mostly otherwise traditional design.  We went with a 9.5" radius and Narrow Tall (6105) frets - this is one of the most common and popular modifications to vintage-styled instruments out of the Custom Shop.   So, you get a modern feel on a vintage style guitar, with the ability to bend notes without fretting out.  It's not just about the look - the Heavy Relic treatment on the neck gives it a totally "broken in" feel.  We specifically asked the Custom Shop to wear the finish off of the back of the neck, making it super comfortable to play.

Also, this one is a great weight if you're looking for a light Strat - it comes in at just 7.3 lbs.

Fender Custom Shop Fat '60s Strat pickups deliver sweet 1960s single-coil Stratocaster sound with plenty of crisp articulation. They provide mellow vintage tones but with enough bite to cut through the mix with crisp articulation, and are over-wound for a hefty low-end punch.  Alnico 2 magnets, Formvar magnet wire, period-correct cloth wire, and a fiber bobbin keep it accurate to what you would expect in a vintage Strat, with a warm, sweet output.  The reverse-wound, reverse-polarity middle pickup eliminates hum for whisper-quiet performance.

Other features include a 3-ply Parchment pickguard, vintage clay dots, a vintage bridge and tuning machines, and a bone nut.  It also includes a Custom Shop hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.

This is an extra special Strat, part of a series of guitars only seen here at Truetone Music.  Come in to check it out, or order right here to have it shipped to your home.
