The Classic, With Tweaks

The 1952 Fender Telecaster is the quintessential electric guitar that started it all and is still a favorite after all these years. Simplicity of design and the alluring tone that only a Tele can produce have graced countless recordings and stages over its long lifespan, and the Custom Shop ’52 Telecaster captures the original essence in all its glory.  For this one, we went with a few twists to differentiate from everything else that's out there.

The guitar features a two-piece select ash body, like most '52 Teles that you see.  The unique part of this one is really the neck.  It's a one-piece rift sawn maple neck with a comfortable ’57 “soft V” profile. Typically, a '52 Tele will have a much larger, "U" neck shape.  We chose this neck to provide players with a different option.  We also went with a vintage compound radius of 7.25 - 9.50" as another special tweak - this makes it super comfortable for chordal work in the first position and then flattens out as you go up the neck, making it easier to play leads up high without fretting out, especially with the 6105 (Narrow Tall) frets.  We knew it would be cool to have an early 50's Tele with a neck like this, but it was only upon arrival that we realized how cool.  It's a great feeling, and having the finish worn off the back of the neck (another customization that we requested) really makes it a joy to play.
The Journeyman Relic Flash Coat Lacquer finish on this guitar is super thin, already aged, and ready to be worn in even more over the years.  It has heavy checking, creating a unique look, and a small amount dings/scratches, giving it the look of a guitar that been played extensively but also cared for carefully.  We love the Journeyman Relic treatment for the look, feel and vibe it creates, and this one came out especially nice.  The thin finish in Aged Nocaster Blonde looks great, with a nice wood grain on the ash body showing through.

Custom Shop hand-wound ’50/’51 Blackguard pickups provide perfect vintage-correct tone in combination with ’51 modified Nocaster wiring, which lets the player blend both pickups together in switch position 1.  So, it goes like this:
Position 1. Bridge Pickup (+ Neck Pickup with Blend control)
Position 2. Neck Pickup
Position 3. Neck Pickup with No Tone Control (dark vintage circuit)
As an added bonus, the guitar comes with extra Fat 50's Tele wiring harness in the case, so you can switch it if you'd like.
The pickups were created with the original design in mind to accurately recreate the twang and shimmer of the originals.  They provide a tight low end and clear, balanced midrange, with all of the top end sizzle you'll ever need.  This pickup set is for the player that wants the true vintage Tele sound.

Other features include a single-ply black phenolic pickguard, ’51-’54 Tele bridge with brass barrel saddles, vintage-style tuning machines, bone nut and disk string tree. Also includes a deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.

We have a special Tele here and don't think it will last long.  Come to Club Fender at Truetone Music to try it out today, or order right here right now to get it sent straight to your home.
