Ball Family Reserve is a celebration of our heritage in instrument craftsmanship which features some of the finest figured tone woods and finishes available. These rare pieces are offered in limited production runs and allow them to present instruments to the public that were previously reserved for family and loyal artists.

The Ball Family Reserve StingRay Special 4 H Bass showcases the Ball Family's dedication to quality and performance.  For 2025, a unique set of instruments has been unveilved, including this amazing bass.  Only 150 will be made for the entire world, and we're happy to have one here at Truetone.

Featuring an ash body with a spalted maple top, a dark translucent blue back, and a Paua Blue Burst front, each bass highlights the unique character of the spalted maple. This unique wood grain is always sure to catch attention, and it really does on this bass.  While Music Man does some amazing finishes in general, this transparent Paua Blue Burst takes it to the next level.

A figured white maple neck and fretboard with 22 stainless steel frets, Paua-colored Atlante block inlays (be sure to check out the photos to see the intricate details), and a matching painted headstock complete the design. 

The StingRay Special combines classic tone with modern upgrades for maximum performance.  You get exceptional durability, resonance, and smooth playability. The 18-volt, 3-band preamp provides outstanding headroom and tonal flexibility, while the neodymium pickup offer powerful, clean output full of classic StingRay tone. With lightweight hardware, this is the lightest and most versatile StingRay yet—perfect for both stage and studio.

This limited run of 150 units per configuration includes a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.  We only have this one, and once it's gone, it's gone for good.
