Used 2023 Fender Custom Shop 1962 Strat Journeyman Relic - Black With OHSC

We get a ton of great Strats here, including some amazing Fender Custom Shop pieces that we spec out ourselves. Sometimes one rolls in the front door that makes us say "man why didn't we come up that?". This is one of those. It hails from Willcutt Guitars in the great state of Kentucky - it's part of their "True 62" run. We are beyond impressed. And, admittedly, a bit jealous of the name, considering our own name!
The guitar is based on a vintage 1962 Strat owned by Eugene Woods. They had the Custom Shop recreate the guitar with the same neck and custom wound pickups. That neck is the main calling card. Not only is it a stunning AAA Flame Maple, but the '59 C profile is a great feel. It measures .790"-.970", so it's a a bit thicker than the slim 60's Oval C when you get into the upper register. It has a really nice dark slab rosewood fretboard. The modern tweak is a 9.5" radius and 6105 (narrow tall) frets to accommodate modern preferences. The Alder body is light, and the guitar has a perfectly done Journeyman Relic nitro finish.
The handwound True '62 pickups give the guitar a sweet, full-bodied tone. We noticed right away how balanced they are. Whether you're playing chords, soaring leads, or anything in between, this versatile set of pickups will work work.
We really dig the nice touch of knobs with green lettering. Other features inclue a shallow drilled trem block, vintage hardware, and a 5-way selector switch. The guitar comes with a special custom case, as well a Custom Shop strap and the Certificate of Authenticity.
Any Custom Shop build is going to be great, but we are really digging this True '62 Strat. It's a really a stunning guitar. Setup to play perfectly (with 9's) by the techs in our shop, it's ready to go.
