We just took in a truly amazing guitar that represents the best of the modern boutique guitar world - it's a Surh Modern, with stunning tonewoods and a unique pickup configuration. It's a custom built guitar that will stand out wherever it goes.

John Suhr's four decades of lutherie excellence have earned the trust of world-class musicians and industry legends alike. Each Suhr instrument represents a commitment to uncompromising craftsmanship and tonal perfection. Since 1997, Suhr guitars have set the standard for professional-grade gear, delivering the reliability and performance that is hard to top.

This Suhr Custom series guitar was a spec build for CME. It's a stunning example of American craftsmanship, designed for both aesthetic appeal and exceptional playability. Its natural finish showcases the beauty of the wood, while the Modern body shape, crafted from a two-piece black limba, provides a unique visual and tonal character. The top of the guitar is made from selected figured walnut, measuring 3/16" thick, which not only enhances its visual allure but also contributes to its rich sound. The entire body is finished with a glossy sheen, giving it a polished look that is sure to catch the eye of any musician or collector.

The neck of this exquisite instrument is also constructed from black limba, featuring a Modern Elliptical profile (.820" to .870"_. This design ensures a comfortable grip for players of all styles, allowing for effortless navigation across the fretboard. Complementing the neck is a luxurious ziricote fingerboard, which boasts a compound radius of 10-14". This feature allows for a flatter playing surface at the higher frets, facilitating easier string bending and faster playing. The guitar is equipped with 24 stainless steel jumbo frets, which not only enhance durability but also provide a smooth playing experience. Adorned with mother of pearl face dot inlays and side markers, the fingerboard adds an elegant touch, while the headstock veneer matches the top, creating a cohesive look.

In terms of hardware, the guitar is equipped with a bone nut measuring 1.65" in width, and a Wilkinson WVS 130 bridge features locking saddles and a steel block, which contribute to improved sustain and resonance. The chrome hardware, including Suhr locking tuning machines, not only enhances the guitar's aesthetic but also ensures reliable tuning stability.

The electronics are thoughtfully designed, featuring three pickups: an SSV humbucker at the bridge, a V60 single coil in the middle, and an S90 P90 at the neck. So, it's the best of all worlds. They are controlled by a 5-way blade switch, allowing for a wide range of tonal options, and a push-push function for splitting the bridge pickup adds even more versatility.

This Suhr Modern is a perfect choice for both stage performances and studio sessions. The original hardshell case is included. The previous owner only played a few times, so it's in pristine shape. Setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop, it's ready for its next home.
