Taylor Custom Grand Concert C12ce Antique Blonde Catch # 26
At this year's NAMM show in Anaheim, Taylor put on an unforgettable dealer event on the rooftop of a hotel, showing a set of extremely limited and special guitars, known as the Catch Event. Here, dozens of one-of-a-kind Taylor guitars were displayed. We had the opportunity to participate and were fortunate to score a few guitars - this is one of them.
Here are at Truetone Music, we are proud to be a part of this, and now proudly present this Taylor Custom Grand Concert. Finished with a visually striking Antique Blonde finish, this custom build is quite the special guitar.
Two top-shelf tonewoods share the spotlight in this comfortable, sweet-voiced acoutsic. An Engelmann spruce top delivers a mature, smooth response with rich midrange presence, while blackheart sassafras back and sides contribute top-end chime and a dry, warm character in the bass range. The output is balanced across the tonal spectrum, making this a very versatile guitar. Tone-enhancing V-Class bracing ensures plenty of volume, drawing out the sustain and keeping notes more in tune with each other all the way up a beautifully variegated ebony fretboard that sports a unique spotting pattern. The slotted headstock is a nice element of the guitar - that's something you don't see often on Taylor guitars like this.
An Antique Blond color shading is artfully applied to the entire guitar, highlighting the creamy complexion of the Engelmann spruce soundboard and emphasizing the exotic visual texture that gives this sassafras variant its “blackheart” designation.
This model features numerous appointments crafted from figured Hawaiian koa, including its Fishbone rosette, body binding, backstrap and heel cap. These small touches add a nice refined uniqueness to the guitar.
A cutaway on the body provides access to the higher register, and the the guitar is stage ready thanks to the new Taylor Claria system. This pickup/preamp assures that the true sound of the guitar will come through, without coloring. And, a very nice hardshell case is included.
As soon as we saw the prototype version of this guitar at the Catch event, we were blown away and knew we had to have it. Now that it's here, we're even more impressed. We have only one and it's likely to go fast.
