Please note that this is a pre-order. Units from the first batch are supposed to start shipping in late April / early May. We will not have any until then. Only 150 will be available on the first batch for the whole world.
If you ordered prior to 3/13, your order will be fulfilled from this first batch, which has now sold out completely. If you order on 3/13 or after, your order will be fulfilled from the second batch, due later in May.
Assuming that everything goes according to plan, you would be receiving it in May if you place the pre-order.
The Beach Boys are one of the most important musical groups in history, a unique phenomenon that originated from surf music around 1962 and evolved into one of the of highest expressions of melodic pop and rock. Leaded by the genius of Brian Wilson and with the greatest vocal harmonies ever recorded in modern music, The Beach Boys heavily contributed to the creation of the West Coast myth and the California sound.
In 1966 the band recorded an album which has become legendary: "Pet Sounds". Glueing together psychedelic sounds, complex harmonies, chord progressions and an amazing songwriting, The Beach Boys explored new territories in music while showcasing Brian Wilson as the Mozart of modern times. Highly regarded by Paul McCartney, who was considering "Pet Sounds" a new milestone in pop music, and inspired by this Beach Boys' masterpiece, exactly one year after The Beatles released "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".
In May 2026 The Beach Boys celebrate the "Pet Sounds" 60th anniversary with a series of concerts and promotional activities. We are therefore proud to participate to this event and launch this special edtion of the SurfyBear Spring Reverb Unit!
The production is extremely limited worldwide.
This is a commemorative version of the SurfyBear Compact spring reverb unit, being released to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Beach Boys album Pet Sounds. Finished in a distinctive bright green enclosure, this edition shares the same circuit design, controls, and physical format as the standard SurfyBear Compact, with the cosmetic treatment serving as the primary distinction. The unit reflects the historic role of spring reverb in the sound palette associated with Pet Sounds and early 1960s recordings, drawing direct inspiration from classic standalone reverb units of that era.
The SurfyBear Compact is an all-analog spring reverb controller based on the specifications of the Fender 6G15 standalone reverb unit originally released in 1962. The design replaces vacuum tubes with JFET transistor technology while retaining the signal behavior and interaction characteristics of the original circuit. It is not a digital effect and incorporates a real, full-size spring reverb pan. The unit uses an Accutronics type-8 spring reverb pan and is voiced to reproduce the distinctive decay, splash, and "drip" associated with early surf and instrumental music, while remaining suitable for a wide range of musical styles.
Developed by Surfy Industries in Sweden, the SurfyBear circuit originated as a DIY project and evolved into a compact, roadworthy commercial unit. In collaboration with Belton and Accutronics, Surfy Industries also developed the SurfyPan reverb pan, designed to more closely match the sound and decay characteristics of early 1960s Gibbs spring pans. The SurfyBear Compact was engineered to reduce size without compromising sound quality, making it suitable for pedalboards and touring applications while preserving the interactive playing dynamics of traditional spring reverb systems.
