Fender Custom Shop 1964 Precision Bass Closet Classic Lake Placid Blue
At Truetone Music, we love Fender Custom Shop Basses. We also know that bass players recognize that this is where some of the world's greatest basses are made. For this reason, we decided to create a run of basses, all of which use 1964 as the base model year, all with matching headstocks, in a variety of classic colors.
For this '64 Precision Bass, we went with one of our favorite colors - Lake Placid Blue. It's one of the most recognizable custom colors that Fender offered back in the day, and gives this bass a great vintage vibe, especially with the added touch of a matching headstock.
For the finish package, we went with Closet Classic, with heavy checking to give it a bit more character. As the name suggests, this creates the appearance of an instrument that was made 50 - 60 years, but was then put away in it's case. You'll see finish checking, some of the glossiness muted, and hardware without the shine. To further the uniqueness, we had the finish removed from the back of the neck. This gives you a truly broken in feel, making this bass an absolute pleasure to play.
A Custom Shop 59 - 62 P Bass pickup provides classic P Bass tone, known as "the sound heard around the world". It's versatile, and can be used in a variety of settings, from old school R&B to punk and everything in between. The rock solid quartersawn maple neck is topped off with a nice dark rosewood board and clay dots. We added two modern tweaks to make it a little more playable - a 9.5" radius and Narrow Tall (6105) frets.
The bass comes without the bridge and pickup covers installed, which of course can be added on (if you'd like us to do so, that's no problem). It includes a vintage style Deluxe hardshell case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity.
When it come in to us, we noticed that on the headstock, there are two spots that the wood is exposed where there would be paint. Due to that, we've priced it $500 lower. Check out the photos - if you're good with that, you just scored a great deal!
This is an amazing looking, sounding and feeling Custom Shop '64 Precision. Come to Truetone Music to check it out, or order it right here right now to get it sent straight to your home.
